The story
Sc. 01 · the brief
The help existed; it read like grant reports.
Information for LGBT+ people in Bulgaria already existed, but mostly on old sites that read like grant reports. The reader we designed for is on a shared device: someone reading about HIV on a shared laptop must not leave a trail. The threat is not an advertiser; it is a brother who picks up the phone.
Sc. 02 · what we built
The crisis link is pinned, never filed.
A bilingual site, Bulgarian first, whose home page is its help centre: search, 20 pages from HIV and PrEP to rights, parents and history, and a crisis panel pinned above them all, never filed among them. Crisis pages keep working offline, and a quick exit leaves the site in one tap, or three presses of Esc.
Sc. 03 · how we built it
Nothing is invented, and every page is dated.
Nothing is invented: a wrong crisis-line number is not a bug, it is a catastrophe. The clinic list was re-checked by a second pass that assumed the first was wrong, and every page prints the date it was last verified. The pages are static, nothing runs that could log a visitor, and no deploy passes with a broken link or a malformed phone number.
Sc. 04 · the detail
Search understands every way Bulgarians type.
Search runs on the device and reads Cyrillic, Latin and шльокавица, Bulgarian typed in Latin letters. Every word gets a normal key and a consonants-only key, and tests make sure “prep” never finds “права”. Type “искам да умра” (I want to die) and the crisis page is pinned to the top.
Sc. 05 · where it stands
Live since August, now at lbgt.bg.
Built from 13 August 2026 and live within days; since 22 August its only address is lbgt.bg. Every verification stamp on the site reads 13 or 14 August. Next: a way to send corrections that is not GitHub, a dated page of updates, and a letter builder that is written but still held back as a draft.
