The story

  1. Sc. 01 · the brief

    Bulgaria had no Ground News.

One story runs through dozens of outlets, and each reader only sees one of them. The brief: for every event, show the whole spread in one place, under a name that says it. обществото means the society, and .to finishes the word.

  2. Sc. 02 · what we built

    One noun: the story.

A story is one news event with our own headline, our own labelled AI summary, one category and a list of links out: outlet, original headline, time. The home page, the category feeds, the monthly spectrum and the sitemaps are all views of the same stories.

  3. Sc. 03 · how we built it

Six stages, each honest about failure.

Discover, normalize, cluster, generate, classify, publish. Stories are clustered from what the outlets publish, written by Claude, sorted into one of eight categories and published with their sources attached. The eight are the brand as well: eight dots on a ring, in an order that never changes.

  4. Sc. 04 · the detail

The database has nowhere to put someone else's article.

We never republish anyone's text, and that is both the product and the legal design. There is no column for article text, and because a loose data field could quietly grow one, a guard fails the build if source prose appears in a stored story or in rendered story data.

  5. Sc. 05 · where it stands

Live, and asking what society thinks.

obshtestvo.to is live under its tagline, „Какво мисли обществото?“. The long tail comes next: small regional and specialist outlets are the product, because they are what no single reader ever sees.
